Africa Expeditions
Africa Expeditions are the first travel to another country you do in Gladiatus. There a new and exciting expeditions are revealed.

Ancient Temple is the long waited return of our glorious gladiator to Italy. After a long absence you are finally home and it's time for the high level beasts to pay their dues. It is long forgotten for which God this temple was erected for. Nonetheless, the old, simple ruin still has an aura of mysticism and power. This distant place of worship towers majestically above the lowlands - the wind blows eerily through the old ruins and many animals are nested there. Still - or maybe even because of all this - treasure hunters come here time and again. There is still the rumour that the true treasure of the temple has never been found...
Bandit Camp is comprised of deserters, criminals and smugglers from the city. Last expedition in Italy. Once you are done here, you won't return home anymore. Near the city, hidden in the southern foothills of the Misty Mountains, there is a bandit camp. Bandits, smugglers, thieves and other outlaws bustle around there. Although the imperial legion sent troops there countless times, the camp was reconstructed every time.
After long 6-8 levels in the last expedition of Germania, you move to a new land. Galerius Senecianus Diary DCXCIX a.u.c. We've finally found a suitable landing point! The journey through the night was difficult and I have not experienced such an uncomfortable climate in all my travels in the empire. Whilst sailing we have already been greeted with spears flung from the coastline. The local tribes, as it appears, will not be giving up without any resistance. Hopefully our large war barges will provide us with some covering fire as we land...
Barbarian Village is an expedition that is second you will see since your return to Italy. Fairly strong enemies and really important dungeons. In the far east there is a barbarian village where barbarians live who have not yet acknowledged the greatness of the Roman Empire. Because they mug travellers and merchants every now and then, you are likely to find many treasures. As long as the Imperial Legion doesn`t take any steps against the barbarians, going there is still a daring adventure.
Blood Cave is the third expedition in Africa. There`s a rumour amongst the superstitious natives that magical rituals are held here. The historiography of the empire writes of no such events taking place there. The fact is though, that the cave`s cooling shadows attracts deadly animals.
Bridge is the second expedition in Africa and while it takes a lot to adapt once you arrive in Africa, this expedition seems to be a bit more reasonable. Fierce and aggressive tribe. In the face of the climate and the local geology, wooden bridge constructions are not practical. For this reason the Empire built this unique piece of Roman engineering here in Africa. The Umpokta consider it a passage, which connects the world of life and the world of the dead. Numerous misunderstandings arise, due to this. Gladiators that guard the bridge are seen as guardians, who watch over the access to the afterlife.
Britannia expeditions are the newest addition to the game targeting the high level characters at level 120+. For long they haven't had a real challenge in game and this new country has exactly this purpose. The country came with the 3.0.3 on 17/08/17 at 15:00 worldwide. Currently the downside is that there aren't any new dungeons so essentially the people running Britannia do not go into any dungeons.
Flavius Eunapius` Diary DCCCIV a.u.c We have been in Britannia just about 10 years now, even though my wife first refused to come. In the meantime we have it pretty good here. We can call a nice estate with servants aplenty our own and for the most part, our lives are much better here than they were in Italy. Just... it is almost impossible to stop complaining about the weather... Despite all this luxury, I have decided to head back into battle as an Officer. As Camulodunum fell after 16 days, the leader of the resistance was once again able to flee and since then has become somewhat of an icon in the resistance against us Romans. Now our spies have been able to locate him in Cambria, the kingdom of the Silures. I see it as my duty to stand against them in battle, as a duty to my fallen comrades, to finally bring this man to justice...
Galerius Senecianus Diary DCXCIX a.u.c. We managed to put the moor behind us. My shoes and those of my companions are soaked to the core from sinking in the quagmire. Our commander Gaius Trebonius... not so much. To be quite honest, there is something about him that seems off to me. Caesar gave him the order to press forward into Cassivellaunus` camp, which is protected by both a wall and a ditch. Cassivellaunus also realised his inferiority in open battle and has released the majority of his armies. All that remain are his agile chariot riders and a few mercenaries who lie in wait and then ambush us...
Flavius Eunapius` Diary DCCXCVI a.u.c The battles were hard, the leader Caratacus was able to flee, but we triumphed! I have seldom seen such self-sacrificing opponents. One of them even stood to fall by the sides of his men in battle. It is a true leader that dies by the sides of the men he leads. Not like ours, Aulus Plautius. Because of his ineptitude, Emperor Claudius has deemed it necessary to travel to Britannia himself. He is bringing the urgently needed reinforcements as well as his infamous war elephants...
Caravan is the sixth expedition in Africa and is very fruitful and boosting expedition. Enemies are not impossibly hard and they are more than generous. A small shadow over the relationship between the Umpokta tribe and the Empire is this hijacked caravan. There are still plenty of goods in the desert belonging to our citizens. The negotiations are being drawn out because of communication problems.
The first expedition once you arrive in Germania is the Cave Temple. We are born from ashes and ashes we will become. Doesn\`t it then make sense for us to devote a temple to the element that determines the cycle of life? If only there wasn`t that niggling fear. That it will eats its way into the souls of those who are supposed to be looking after the temple. And now the imposing, multi-story building stands stands deserted. Rumour has it that the fear living within the ruin of the building, has taken on a life of its own. It has supposedly got so strong that the dead buried there have risen from their graves. None of the priests that have tried to investigate this phenomenon have returned from temple. Perhaps you will have more luck or or ability?
Cliff Jumper is the eighth expedition in Africa. In the religious life of the Umpokta a surreal ritual has become tradition. On every third new moon the villages` priests meet and choose someone especially gifted. This person is accompanied by a procession to Cliffjumper Mountain. On arrival the chosen ones throw themselves jubilantly off the cliff to their deaths, it is said that it is a gift to the spirits. Aside from the spirits the numerous wild animals that have settled in this area also get some satisfaction from it.
The third expedition in Germania. Things are getting serious now. The fertile flora and fauna of the area attracts many tribes. That is why it is only a question of time before the Vandals will arrive as well. They are dreadful companions yet they brew heavenly beer and like to tell stories of their battles. While intoxicated they are very unpredictable and have a penchant for attacking strangers. Pray for a good moment should you have to stay with them for awhile.
The fourth expedition in Germania is Death Hill. Relatively easy expedition. The loss of the cave temple poses a considerable problem to the dwellers Where to put the dead? Death Hill had for a long time been a perfect answer. Until the dead started rising and feeding off the carrion. Naturally this attracted allot of wild animals. Still many adventurers don`t let this story deter them from looting the riches found in the graves.
The last expedition in Germania. Anyone can feel his skin crawl when they reach this place. Magic passes through the scattered dragon bones. But this amount of free magic can not go unnoticed and the creatures who hunger for this force are drawn to this place. They claim that space and have set watchmen to guard it. But with great power comes great madness and famine that now threatens to engulf everything.
Galerius Senecianus` Diary DCXCIX a.u.c. After the initial skirmishes, these barbaric Britons withdrew to the forest. Caesar pursued them with the intent of running them down and setting up an inland camp. To be honest, I am a little concerned. I heard things on the route here of mystical beings that are roaming and rampaging in the local woods. I pray that these are merely tales to frighten the young... and us Romans.
Germania expeditions are ranging from level 40 to one of the highest expeditions in the game. The German territory is for advanced level players and is home to some of the highest level expeditions in the game.
Grimwood is the first expedition in the game. Do not get fooled by it. It has some fearsome animals. Rat is really weak but Lynx is far stronger and it doesn't scale exponentially. Same with Wolf and Bear. Do not expect to start farming Wolf and Bear anytime soon. If you believe what the old people say around here, there once lived a very popular king in this wood. The wood`s original name has been long forgotten and is now only known by the name Grimwood. Rumour has it, that this king made a pact with the dark side so that he could continue to reign forever. However, Grimwood is an extremely sinister place, full of wild animals and impenetrable brushwood. Countless numbers of hunters and lumberjacks went too deep into the woods, never to be seen again. If you believe the gossip, the old king took them into his lair so that they could serve him for all eternity...
Italy expeditions are the first one you encounter in the game. They include mostly low level expeditions and a couple of higher level ones. The stats on all enemies are without any bonuses.
Galerius Senecianus` Diary DCXCIX a.u.c. The camp fell, Cassivellaunus fled! He however managed to send a message to the Kings of Kent, to mobilise them against us. They intend to attack our camp on the coast, hoping to make us retreat. They know the land and its intricacies much better than we do, but if we plan on staying here long term, we have to defeat them...
The most amazing expedition in the game. Marvelous creatures. Majestically it stands there, the sacred Koman Mountain. Many mountaineers wish for nothing more than to climb this mountain. Unfortunately a lot of blood-thirsty animals living here have been responsible for converting the brave mountaineers into dead mountaineers. But of course something like that could never happen to a mighty Gladiator.
Lost Harbour is the fourth expedition in Africa. It's the last expedition in Africa before going to Germania for the first time so enjoy is as you won't be coming back in a long time. It has interesting dungeons and expedition enemies. Once a thriving Viking outpost, it has in the meantime become a shadow of its former self. A textbook example of the empire and its allies. The strange power of voodoo forced the blonde giants to their knees. It apparently still holds findings from the houses and ships of the Vikings, that aren`t of any interest to the Umpokta.
Mesoai Oasis is the seventh expedition in Africa. Fruitfully it lies in the desert and fearful are its dangers. As one of the few oases here in this region it is a place of refuge for many animals looking to quench their thirst. The shady trees offer shelter from the sun and offer predators the possibility of getting some food.
The sixth expedition in Germania is the most pleasant one. Weak opponents, good treasures. The pride of this region is its pure ore, which is stored in the mine. But for a while now a wolf pack has been living inside the mine. Nobody knows why they are there!..The workers have already themselves for the new dangerous work situation. Every loss is painful, but the region cannot live without ore. Everyone who will help them will be celebrated like a Caesar!
Misty Mountains is the third expedition in the game and it opens up at level 10 but not really doable at level 10, just like its dungeon. The highest pinnacles of the Misty Mountains are hidden from the eyes of wanderers, because of the thick clouds surrounding them. Well, it`s not as if many people go around there anyway. It is a dangerous area, not only because of the dangers from the mountains themselves, but also because it is said that there are monsters in the caves in the southern slopes - the sort longing for human meat...
Flavius Eunapius` Diary DCCCX a.u.c I feel my time drawing to a close. My children have followed my invitation and now accompany me through my final days. Looking back over my life, I made the right choice in lingering in Britannia. In my final battle I personally captured Caratacus and dispatched him to Rome, where Emperor Nero then princely rewarded us. My oldest son strove to follow my lead after some time and has already managed to attain a high standing within the military. Now he has the task of taking care of the final point of retreat for the Druids Mona Isle. Even when I think highly of his ability, the power of the Druids makes me worry...
Pirate Harbour is the second expedition in the game and it's only 5 levels away. However 5 levels might be too quick. On the coast in the south-east there is a pirate harbour. There are a lot of shady characters and goods that would be forbidden elsewhere there. Uninvited guests aren\`t welcome. Still, many adventurers and nosy people try their luck. Mostly they end up as food for the sharks. But if you bear up against all these pirates, you`ll get exotic treasures.
The seventh expedition in Germania and quite a hard one. The Romans fear the aggressive and wild Teutons who live in this camp. They kill anyone and everyone who approaches. Apparently they even skin animals and humans! Beyond that they use the skin and fur to dress themselves. A respected citizen of Rome can hardly even imagine such a thing. The forest looks kindly upon the barbarians, even if it stinks like mead and decay around them. Only the bravest, or should we say those undaunted by death, go anywhere near to those savages.
Flavius Eunapius` Diary DCCXCVI a.u.c, Britannia... what did I do to deserve this. A long way from my wife, child and my beloved Rome. Slowly, memories of the stories my grandfather told me come to the fore of my mind, his grandfather assisted Julius Caesar in the subjugation of this barbaric people! And today? After the retreat and the initiation of kings approved by Rome, these barbarians returned to their uncivilised lives... until one of them came and implored help from Emperor Claudius. The local troops were being led by two brothers, who had barricaded themselves up in northern Camulodunum. We were able to emerge victorious from the initial skirmishes after our landing. Now on our way north, we need to cross this river...
The second expedition in Germania is the Green Forest. Whoever likes green and aromatic things will find that the green forest is the perfect place for them. The odour of Taraxacum officinale, Viola riviniana or Oxalis acetosella bewitch the senses and give all the horrors, that emanate from the forest, some comfort. Wolves and bears suddenly start walking up-right and killing wanderers. The same goes for the usually friendly wolf pack. Whoever ventures into the forest at night can usually find magic ingredients, but the risk of dying is just a bit too much for the average citizen. But who ever even listens to the opinion of an average citizen?
Galerius Senecianus Diary DCXCIX a.u.c. We were able to subdue the domestic tribes with ease. As an offering of peace, each of them presented us with hostages, who then revealed the leader of the resistance. He goes by the name of Cassivellaunus and he has an encampment to the north-east of us inland. We immediately headed out and even made good progress. That was, until the sole route led us into and through this most eerie moor...
Umpokta Tribe is the fifth expedition in Africa. Really important one and is the first expedition that you will encounter for your big return to Africa after being in Germania and Italy. It has really crucial dungeons. It houses the Africa's high command. As far as the Empire is concerned, it is the high-point of civilisation amongst the savages of the savannah and deserts. Primitive house construction and religious superstition are very prevalent in everyday Umpokta life. With their masks and threatening songs they frighten the tenderly strung amongst our citizens.
The fifth expedition in Germania is Vandal Village. It is a high level expedition which means that you will visit it on your next return to Germania.
Voodoo Temple is the first expedition in Africa. It is the generous gift made by the Empire for the Umpokta. After the foundation walls and the building material were delivered, the Umpokta banished all Roman architects and finished constructing the building themselves. Religious reasons were pushed forward. Certainly the temple probably holds many secrets and treasures, which are protected by force of arms.
Wolf Cave is the fourth expedition in the game and it allows you to enter at level 15. In the hills south of the barbarian village there is a cave system that is called wolf cave by the townsfolk. As the name suggests, a large pack of wolves pack live there which often attack the surrounding farms during harsh winters. Some say this wolf pack is led by a large white wolf, but that may merely be the idle chitchat of simple farmers.
